JAS Gardens at BBC Gardeners World Live - June 2005

Approached by local charity Birmingham Focus on Blindness we were asked to take part in a project of designing and constructing a garden in the Gardeners World Live exhibition at the NEC in June 2005.

The garden was designed with people with a visual impairment in mind – bold black and white to clearly define areas, a water feature for background sound and tactile scented planting.

Working from a design brief by Jeff Challand of JPC Garden Design and in collaboration with soft landscaper Jon Hewett of Grace Gardens the garden was based around raised beds and a water feature constructed from rendered concrete blocks with wooden coping.

The project took 4 days to complete and was awarded a silver medal by the RHS judging panel.
